Can’t say for Celestia and other alicorn type designs, but there isn’t much of a problem with regular pony heads.

If you scale down the eyes, she’ll look just as silly as IRL horses when viewed head-on. Most MLP ponies have eyes that move to accomidate the camera angle for more reasonable face pictures.
