After recently re-watching “Flutter Brutter” and seeing Fluttershy’s canon parents I have the sudden urge to come up with parents for Cheese Sandwich, who plays a big role in my Mane6 Next Gen’s lives.

This is Cheese’s mother, Candelabra. She raised Cheese by herself (for the most part) seeing as Cheese’s father died before he was even born. However, Candelabra wasn’t really the best mother.

Candleabra came form a very wealthy family and alwasy had everything she could have ever wanted, but Candelabra suffers from Anorexia Nervosa. Now I’m not just saying she’s skinny and doesn’t eat much. She hates eating and will throw up anything she is seen eating. No matter what she does she constantly thinks she’s fat. She cannot help it.

Her pregnancy was rough and she nearly miscarriaged with Cheese once. But she had him. He was about a month early and horribly small and sickly but he survived.

From then on it was relatively bad for poor Cheese. He was painfully shy and tried to confide in his mother with his troubles in making friends. But in Candelabra’s mind her son was suffering from a self-confidence issue such as herself. But rather than do what doctors and her family had done to try and nurse her back to health, she handled it as if she were treating herself.

She told the young and impressionable Cheese that she knew how he felt. All he needed to do was find what he was doing that made him so unattractive to the other colts and fillies and to do everything in his power to change it. Then he could be friendly and beautiful and loved by all. She didn’t realize that this would promptly destroy whatever self-esteem any five year old would have.

Eventually, a family friend noticed how thin and ill Cheese looked. They reported it to the police and Cheese was removed from Candelabra’s custody. He was sent to live with his grandparents (on his father’s side).

Cheese does not stay in contact with his mother. He knows of the facility she lives in but does not write or visit her. Pinkie once convinced him to take Harrison and Panini to see her one Hearth’s Warming when they were very little and he immediately regretted it when she openly declared how disappointed she was that he’d gained so much weight and that his kids were too big (note: even as a middle aged stallion Cheese is very thin and neither Panini nor Harrison are that thick either).

He hasn’t spoken about her since.

Cheese Sandwich’s father’s name was Submarine Sandwich, but everypony just called him Hoagie. He was in the military and was a well respected pony. He loved Candelabra very much and was over the moon excited about being a father. He died suddenly of pnuemonia one winter night.
