Hehe everytime I look at it I see things that I did wrong... Thanks OHT everyone else for letting me know I'm not a talentless louse.

 

Do you guys have any tips for someone that's about to write their first story here? I've written for other forums, but nothing as sexual as whats seen here.

 

We all have advice, and often give it without being asked. Here is mine - write for yourself. If you have a connection with what you write, I think you care more about what you present.

Not every story has to contain sex. If it's called for or enhances the your story then use it. Yes, this is a porn site, but it's your perogative. When you write, you are God to your characters. If you read the different writers, you'll see some very vanilla sex scenes, and others are more graphic. We all have our own styles.

Also, I think most of the writers are very approachable. If you find a writer that really appeals to you, don't be afraid to ask their advice.

If you like to write, write. Some of us here will bite, some will be nice, some will ignore, and the vast majority will simply read and move on. Write because you want to write, but do it for yourself more than anything else. If you're happy with what you write, chances are good you'll make others happy too, and some will certainly tell you.

I just felt like bumping this thread. It seems there are too few really good conversational threads going on at the moment.

 

I'll say amen to that, sweet one. Most of the discussions here should be on the GD.

No doubt. I wish they would start a separate forum for nothing but arguments, flame wars, and harassment threads so the rest of us sane people would not have to wade through all the other members' copious amounts of utter crap, name-throwing, and pompous BS.

 

I thought that was the GD forum. Gets tiresome, doesn't it?

 

Extremely tiresome. *sighs* Guess I'll go edit my manuscript again. It's better than watching people chase their tails and flog that poor, decaying dead horse. At least I don't have the urge to blow up my pc for reading ignorant crap when I'm editing a fictious world based entirely on my own wildly out-of-control imagination :excited:. Then again, I've been known for creating some pretty stupid things before, so we shall see if my pc remains intact for another tip-toe through the tulips.

 

I should be doing about eight other things but I'm procrastinating and probably going to go to bed early.

I just have to toot my own horn for a minute and share my excitement.

As you all know, I finally finished The Red Fang, a novel that began as a short story and eventually morphed into a full-length novel. The story has since spread, giving me ideas for at least 3 more novels. I have been babysitting this idea in my head for 6 years now. I first began penning The Red Fang back in 2007 after playing around with the storyline for about 2 years.

Anyway, I ordered a hardcopy of the novel last week so that I could see what it looked like in print, and also so I could have a hardcopy to edit since I can seem to find more errors with actual paper than on my computer screen.

Needless to say, I am absolutely THRILLED with the way it turned out. The cover looks wonderful, the book itself is thick and the print all turned out perfectly.

For those writers who have never felt the thrill of holding a paper copy of your work in your own hands, I can only say that there is absolutely no feeling like it in the world. It brought tears to my eyes to open up that package and see the fruit of 6 years of labor nestled in the packing material.

Sure, it's my 3rd published novel to date, but I still get weepy-eyed when I finally see the finished product. Call me sentimental or a bleeding-heart artist or even an old fool, but by all that is holy on this earth and in the next life, I DID IT! And that feels fan-fucking-tastic.

Thanks, Rutger! I am quite proud, actually, lol. I keep looking at the book in disbelief and think to myself, "Wow! I wrote that!" It still seems unreal.

 

I bet it looks great in print. "Memories In Ashes" wouldn't be much more than a pamphlet!

 

lol, but if you put all of your stories together then it would be a good-sized novel :excited:

Thanks so much ejls! The novel won't be officially available to the public until month's end, but having the galley copy in my hand makes it finally seem real after so many years of wondering if I would ever get the thing written.
