In your face Toxapex.Galarian Ponyta ALSO has the ability to prevent your party from being poisoned and even curing poison once it enters battle.
Not to mention traditional unicorns from Scottish folklore were strong against poison (for example they could purify poisoned water). It makes more sense to make them the type that’s super effective against Poison Type than the type that’s completely weak to them when you put that into consideration.
MLP unicorn magic does include things like telekinesis and teleporting, controlled supernatural abilities more associated with psychics than fey.

A minor (but common mistake). Game Freak is the company that makes the main series Pokemon games. While Nintendo owns part of the legal ownership, makes some spin-off games, and distributes the main series games on their consoles, they’re not the ones creating new Pokemon.
Also, I have my doubts. The games were probably in development for a while.
