This was me recently, when I suggested adding some light, G-rated DID elements for a Zelda game on a Zelda forum. The conversation quickly devolved into an argument and ended with one of my opponents outright mocking and bullying me, while deliberately violating the forum rules. The whole conversation naturally got trashed by the mods. People like that are why I will never identify myself as a “feminist” or a “progressive”, because I associate those terms with oppression and double standards now.

There are three levels of friendship:

Acquaintances are people who share attributes, such as locations, occupations, beliefs, cultures, and know each other as “one of my group.”
Friends are more than acquaintances; they’re people who’ve shared experiences, such as the same schools, movies, vacation trips, or other in-person experiences.
Family, partners, best friends, and teams are more than friends; they’re people who’ve shared purpose: survival, businesses, each other, and so on.

In the context of the show, the mane 6 are team-level friends. Back in season 1, they’re just friends, but over the course of that season become not just the group that saved Equestria from Nightmare Moon, but best friends. That’s why the season one finale isn’t about a world-ending threat: they’ve got each other, even if their individual expectations for the night fail.

Make friends out of those few acquaintances you want as friends by sharing experiences. Make sure to enforce your solitude boundaries; look up codependency to strengthen your ability to choose solitude and have people be okay with that.
