Reading the comments it’s like people don’t think people can change over a period of time. Rainbow thought reading made her look lame, until her friends told her she could read and still be badass. Then she didn’t try to hide it anymore.

She thought Tank made a lame pet, up until he helped her out of a jam and she fell in love with him, to the point she tried to cancel winter entirely just so he wouldn’t hibernate. Her crying fit at the end of the episode even gave Rarity a run for her dramatic money. So it’s not like Dash doesn’t have a soft side.

She thought going to the spa was lame, but then we see an episode where she was visiting one in secret and got caught, again showing that beneath her tough exterior she does have a softer side.

Dash has always had some underlying self-esteem issues. While she certainly has genuine talent, when she loses the spotlight or doesn’t feel up to the task all that confidence goes out the window and she gets depressed. Just like Pinkie in Lesson Zero or the Cheese Sandwich episode, we can see that beneath their confidence is self esteem issues.

And, as stated by the OC owner, since we’ve never seen Dash with a romantic partner we don’t know how she would act around them, especially as this is a much older Rainbow.

So I find nothing out of character about this.

I can totally understand where people are coming from when they say its out of character, i just feel like she’s been shown to have a really soft side and if she treats a SO even close to how she treats her pet i feel like this sorta interaction is not out of the realm of possibility, she thinks highly of herself and i can see age as something that could cause her to second guess herself, shes maturing, slowly growing out of the spunk that she had when she was younger and if she can feel that who’s to say that she wouldn’t worry about her appearance with a SO Like @Background Pony #704F said

The pic was made to be something sweet, we have no idea about that aspect of her life but i apperciate the effort, what we do know is she likes to be pampered at the spa and also cried for half an episode because her tortoise was leaving and she didn’t want to he alone and the fact that shes let bullying get to her in the past… so maybe looking at the character as a whole and not just one aspect of her personality would help your viewpoint

Ah yes, Rainbow Dash. The mare whose primary attribute is being incredibly concerned with what other ponies think about her: most importantly, what they think about her appearance. Remember all those episodes where she cried into a tub of ice cream because some stallion said she wasn’t pretty? I do. Yup, after clawing her way up the ranks in the Wonderbolts, her biggest concern is how PRETTY she is. This depiction fits her to a T. Good ol’ older, more mature Rainbow Dash is just SUPER insecure about her appearance and uses words that a teenager would use; not an actual big-boy grownup adult.

Just supposed to be a sweet thing, as far as being out of character goes sure. Yeah i coulda replaced it with “awesome” and it would have the same meaning but be in character but whats the fun in that and at the end of the day nobody knows how she acts romantically in private and the show hints at her being a bit different when shes in private and age brings loss of self confidence in terms of appearance hence it being cliche.

I can’t hear any version of Rainbowdash saying this. It would be out of character in her younger years, and it would certainly be out of character in her maturer years.
