I was working on my Vocaloid documentary series on youtube but I had already published several hours on that topic and I wanted to do something different, so I decided to make a documentary video on Derpy. I made it to inform people who are new to FiM about who Derpy is and where she came from.
I published the video almost a week ago, and I was originally going to make a post here about it to get feedback but I know Derpy is a touchy subject for a lot of people so I was worried to. But I also think it’s important to get feedback on this sort of thing so that if I made any big mistakes I can fix it, so… here I am.
If you are familiar with the way the show is produced or about Derpygate specifically, if you wouldn’t mind watching my video (link is the source URL) and letting me know if I made any factual errors, I would appreciate it. : ) I realize a 17 minute video is much longer than most people care to watch, but I prefer longer videos so I make longer videos.

Not just her name dude.
If it wasn’t for /co/, we would never have seen her in the show again, much less as a mailmare. They were the ones who picked her up and ran with it. They gave her the mailmare personality, and most importantly of all? They showed Faust how much they liked the character so much. That is the single only reason why she appeared in Feeling Pinkie Keen.
And if you want the first recorded orgin of the name “Derpy Hooves”, it was by Dr. Foreigner. Here’s a clip of the thread.

I would have liked to, but since the video is about Derpy I wasn’t sure if it would work well since she’s typically in scene for so little time. All of the footage would be of the other characters. So I thought it was better to show art created by Derpy fans, so convey how meaningful she is to them.

I never went to /co/, and I didn’t start watching FiM until last year, so I wasn’t around to see any of this and I was not able to find any specific information. I am aware that part of the FiM fandom began in /co/, but I wasn’t able to find any archived threads will relevant information. I generally don’t use archives, so I’m not great at using them.

And If you don’t credit 4chan for the fact that they created Derpy (not to mention the fact that Lauren Faust went there too and talked with them about it), then I wouldn’t bother making this. It was pretty much them and them alone who created her.
It’s a video, so it shouldn’t look like a clipshow.
