It goes ever on. 4Chan wasn’t bad until the cointelpro shills started appearing on it. Seriously, look at some real old screenshots of 4chan threads from back in the day. While it was always a bit spicy, it was still a lot more pleasant than today. My personal theory is that Project Chanology is what really put 4chan in the limelight for the powers that be. After that is where the cancer and infiltration started.

I was there for a decade before ponies, and it seems so weird to think of the pre-pony internet now.
 
I didn’t watch the show that much, as I feel season 6 and beyond had only a few good episodes per season, and I never made any real friends in the fandom, and yet, I feel so sad, more than I honestly expected, now that it’s mostly over. I really want G5 to succeed. I’ve seen what happens when the new fails to succeed the old.
