Headcanon: Sometime during the time skip, Princess Twilight Sparkle helped Flash Sentry with a friendship problem. Flash Sentry had also trained Gallus as a Royal Guard. He is now currently serving as Captain of the Guards for Princess Flurry Heart in the Crystal Empire.

I quit watching the series a few years ago. I almost quit after season 3, because I was one of the ones who hated the idea of Twilight becoming a princess and alicorn, as it was unoriginal and not in line with the character’s personality. Sadly, they went full Disney princess direction with the end of the series. I’m sure there will be an ongoing debate as to when the series jumped the shark. For me it was definitely the addition of Starlight Glimmer.

Same thought. Jesus, both the design and idea behind this is so forced.
I always wondered why they went with this narrative when they constantly portrayed Twilight as a wisdom-less, only book smart, nervous wreck that instinctively knew and cared the least about friendship, at least among the 6. Heck the main movie pointed out that she was least onboard with trusting anything but Celestia’s orders, just like most of the series.
Its so freakin weird actually trying to run with this.
 
The “newer is always better” partisans, of which there are a few, call that ‘character development’.
