They are constantly referencing past episodes from past seasons, but I suspect that this is more because they got notes about it from the higher-ups at Hasbro rather than because they actually saw those episodes.  

 
Honestly, this is why I absolutely hated both “The Last Laugh” and “2, 4, 6 Greaaat.”  

 
Oh, yeah, I can’t wait to see this either. I saw the trailer for this finale and instantly predicted that it’s going to be notbing but a confusing, colossal mess due to the huge amount of characters that they have to juggle. These new writers have never been good at juggling multiple characters and multiple storylines in episodes.

For me personally, that would definitely be “Siege of the Crystal Empire.”

Slim I hoped the new height would be a future rainbow crush.

good development too bad that the bits of tape to link this episode to the series is shown.

As someone on 4chan put it, PLZ NO DELET, there are 4 episodes with Daring Do in them that are roughly 22-23 minutes long, which totals to about 1.5 hours.  
That is how much this episode was not worth it to them.

I know you’re being sarcastic but it really does seem like these new writers haven’t really seen the previous seasons. Garble gets a redemption arc as an ashamed poet despite having wanted to force Spike to kill some phoenixes’ offspring, attempting to flame roast him, Twilight, and Rarity, and even having plans in Dragon Games to wage war on Equestria, Pinkie has to go through Pinkie Pride again to find out what she already knew since season 3, Rainbow Dash gets demoted from Wonderbolt performer to cheerleader coach at Twilight’s Friendship U, and now we have a conniving cat thing being rewritten as a guardian of pony Aztec treasures despite being shown several times wanting to take over or ruin the planet.
 
Can’t wait for the series finale where we’ll get to see why a monarch that rewrote her species’ biology to forever be dependent on feeding off emotions, a centaur that siphons magic for power, and a corrupt child that nearly banished unicorns’ mana to the ether should all be redeemed.

Can you name the “worst IDW comic story arcs” because that’s such steep completion it hurt the creditably of complaints against this episode.

In all honesty thought, it’s such a shame there was this inconsistency in the episode. The episode itself is actually really funny, probably the Daring Do ep that made me laugh the most.

Yeah, uh, Imma just write this one off as “Aztec mythos are a bunch of douches”.
 
I mean, take their sun god Huitzilopochtli. Great guy that one, raises the sun and everything. Very essential. Except he doesn’t get out of bed for less than a half dozen or so sacrifices a day. Sometimes more. If you don’t drag prisoners up a few hundred steps, cut their still beating heart out alive, eat it, then decapitate and kick the headless corpse down the steps of the temple then sucks to be you no sun.

Nicole Dubuc is not a new writer. She is not only a writer since S7, she is also a story editor since S8. She suppose to know more about characters and past episodes than average writer. But all of her episodes are less consistent and more badly written than worst IDW comic story arcs.

Oh, boy, just looking at this one clup I cam tell that this episode is going to suck. Seriously, how do you manage to fuck something like tbis up? Given these new writers, I suppose it shouldn’t be surprising in the least. I mean, just from the synopsis I could tell that I was going to hate this episode.

Yeah, I guess it could have been handled better, but the episode was actually pretty fun apart from that.

I dont think it was planned since the first Daring Do episode to end like this. The writer retroactively diminished Daring Do character and whitewashed the villains.

Everyone and @Keira Alcove specifically, cut it out. You’re being toxic over irrelevant things.

Ooooookkkk the show is officially starting going into the Fairly Odd Parents territory when it comes to continuity discrepancies. If episode 15 was a starting point, this one is starting solidifying that. Good thing there are only 4 eps left. I just hope everything goes well with the finale. Despite these couple of continuity discrepancies I still enjoyed most of the S9 regardless, so I’m not gonna give up on the finale.

That might be a bit too much to ask of a fandom that has needed to do that since season 1 to make any sense of this show. It’s an almost 9 year old habit to try and kick.

Actually, that’s due to what they were planning to do with Discord being altered. Interesting case of how flaw can show up in the waiting process despite their intents and ability.
 
The writer Nicole Dubuc has a Twitter. We should ask them about this and see if it has an explanation for this discrepancy.
