Not wanting the bread to get soggy is part of why I don’t freeze the bread (or buns) in the first place.
Also, who microwaves wieners? You’re supposed to boil them, and if you want the bread/buns warm for whatever reason, you can steam them on a grate over the pot.

breh

I’ve done this enough times to know the bread does not get soggy because of being frozen. You’d think it would, it doesn’t. I do this literally all the time. The bread simply doesn’t absorb enough moisture to do that.

As for microwaving hotdogs, actually microwaving them is the most common cheap/fast way to do it. In my experience it’s weirder to boil them, and it doesn’t really make them taste or feel better to me at least.

Of course the true and proper way to do a dog is roasting on a fire or at least a grill, but eh. I would hardly say you’re SUPPOSED to boil them, that’s a way to do it but really not the way most people expect you to. You can also try to roast them in the toaster oven.

When I was talking about buns earlier though I was talking about frozen ones. And yes it really is fine if it’d frozen, microwaving it for like 30 seconds makes it normal again. Toasting it just a little in the toaster oven can add a little more of a crunch if you’re into that.

Even on a normal day though I like to microwave even a thawed bun for at least a few seconds, because being warm adds a certain kind of fluffiness to it vs just straight at room temperature.

– Also getting out a frying pan and sizzling the doggie dog is a good way to do it. In my experience boiling just isn’t worth the dishes because it’s probably the weakest method. I just don’t like how they feel that way. Unless maybe you mean the hotdogs themselves are frozen, then I can see why someone would want to do that. Still I’d rather just try another method.

Why would you toast bread if you wanted to make a hotdog out of it? The bread would break when you tried to fold it, then everything would fall out.

BRUH.

I don’t normally like using a slice of bread in the first place, I do prefer an actual hotdog bun for its softer softness like you’re supposed to. But even still, if you’re already desperate enough to use a slice of bread due to a lack of real hotdog buns, then the risk of a little crack at the bottom as you fold it really doesn’t matter as much as you’re implying.

You make it sound as if there’s only two levels of bread: Bread, and BURNED. Like you’re used to really REALLY crunchy really toasted toast. It doesn’t have to be THAT toasted to do the job, there is such a thing as lightly toasted toast, you know…. And it wouldn’t just immediately break when folding. I myself prefer this middle ground.

If anything, being frozen first seems to reduce the chances of the slice of bread breaking apart like that, even if you have to leave it in the toaster for maybe 30 seconds longer than you would want for a normal piece of toast. If you wanted to thaw it in the toaster.

As for actual, proper hotdog buns - I still promise you, it’s all the same damn thing and people who are so put off by the idea are just a bunch of people who need to just think about it for a moment to realize it’s really not that weird. Same difference really - instead of thawing it in a toaster (because that might not fit), just leave it in the toaster oven for a very short amount of time. Or hell maybe even microwave the bun very quickly - JUST NOT WITH THE HOTDOG ON IT, DEAR GOD. I still promise you that’s the quickest way to get a hotdog soup and it’s disgusting. Let the dog heat up on a different plate so it lets all its juices out there. Don’t be a dumb dumb like Rainbow Dash. Deal with the extra 30 seconds for a better experience. It’s SO BAD if you let the hotdog bun/bread get soggy.

Also I really agree with whoever mentioned chili and other toppings like relish that are popular in some places. Chicago has some WEIRD but really interesting hotdogs with onions and tomato and things. Not to mention hotlinks - I really would be interested in seeing a sequel to this. We need to find out what every other pony would do.

But Rainbow Dash though…. dear GOD why would you punish yourself like this? Pinkie’s Heart-Attack-On-a-Bun looks disgusting but at least I can believe she’s nuts enough to actually like this even though it’s weird to me. But Rainbow Dash’s lazy ass method is just….why.
It’s worse that it sounds like she microwaves it all at once. So the thin slice of bread gets soggy and disgusting because the hotdog leaks all its juices on it. You basically just end up with a piece of hotdog slime, just…EUUHHH. You fucking FREAK, RD.
Pinkie’s doesn’t seem that strange to me. There are places where you can get a hamburger with doughnuts for the bun, so a hotdog in a long john just seems like the logical extension. It might even taste good, if you’re into that whole pairing sweet with salty thing.

As for Rainbow… actually, that one amuses me. She definitely doesn’t seem like the type who would waste time on “fancy schmancy” food preparation, and I can so easily see her opening her fridge, staring at the single hot dog and individually wrapped slice of cheese that are the only contents, and being happy she gets to put off shopping for groceries another day.

@Mr. Horrible
Maybe they’re soy dogs. Either that or all the main 6 got some things to answer for.
And what I want to know is how does Spike/Glimmy/Luna/Celly/Discord eat their dogs?
Spike’s pretty easy. Based on that time he had a carrot dog, he’d be a lot like Applejack.

Not so sure about the rest. Starlight might be the type to put a little of everything on it, to the point where you wonder if she can even taste the hot dog. Discord’s would run around barking and panting like an actual dog. Luna… I’m going to say she’s big on corn dogs, and Celestia… you know what? I’m going to say Celestia doesn’t even use a bun. She dips hers in ketchup and eats it that way.

@Background Pony #0050
I believe you missed the point. Thawing frozen bread makes it no different than normal bread once it’s thawed. This includes a loaf, with which you might make toast. Hotdogs have nothing to do with it.

Dude, there’s a series on YouTube called ““Is It a Good Idea to Microwave This?[](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I294xoqGcE&list=PLU4IMu04MIlJgB6Aaj07q-5iXuHGVzFAR), and they have over 300 episodes. If you wanna know what would happen if you microwaved something, look and see if they’ve done it first. If they haven’t, well… try it at your own risk.

I’m surprised Fluttershy would play with her food to this degree but it’s cute regardless. I kind of expected that more from Pinkie.

Also in response to the weird back-and-forth below about freezing hotdog buns….I can confirm this is actually perfectly fine and more people need to do this. If you have a toaster or a toaster oven, it literally DOES NOT FEEL DIFFERENT than if you tried to make toast from already normal, unfrozen bread. Just shut up and do it already, it’s fine. It’s more convenient to just buy a couple loaves of bread, freeze one, then maybe leave another out if you plan on eating it more frequently. If you like toasting your bread, just set the toaster to a bit higher of a setting and the end result really will be exactly the same.

But still though…. I don’t see any indication that RD is being smart and freezing bread to make it last longer. Or the hotdogs. So this still sounds disgusting to me because of what I was talking about above.
