Today’s Artist Training Grounds prompt was, funnily enough, a choice between drawing “an episode idea you’ve always wanted in the show” or “a pony with a bright idea”.
 
Instead of going with the obvious choice of drawing my own OC and calling it a day, I thought carefully about what I’ve always wanted to see in “Friendship is Magic” but have never gotten to in all the 200+ episodes and specials I’ve seen thus far, and probably never will.
 
Imagine a plot similar to “Marks for Effort” (from season 8), but instead of teaming up with the CMCs, Cozy Glow seeks help and advice from the recently redeemed Diamond Tiara, with Silver Spoon being a supportive sidekick. Not only would it be a fine opportunity to further develop DT and SS as characters beyond the “generic bully” trope, but it could be a chance to explore the theme of bettering oneself by helping others, even if they still have a lot to learn.
 
Since Applebloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle already knew a ton about friendship at the point Marks for Effort took place, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon would be far better suited to want to prove themselves worthy of admission, since they also go to Cheerilee’s class already. Coming upon someone like Cozy Glow and helping her study and go about learning friendship, I can imagine so many moments where DT and SS would falter, having spent so long looking down on others and disrespecting/bullying ponies who were different…. man, the more I think about it, the more I wish that was the episode we got!
