More outrage from the CBS news community. All it takes is a gay couple, and people treat it like MLP has become porn.
lol
lol so why do you like MLP then? Now that it’s officially part of the “gay agenda,” so you should be avoiding everything to do with it instead of posting on a pony imageboard.
It’s not even a tiny little bit accidental.
It all seems a bit Freudian.
And where do you draw the line on what is ‘‘hate speech’’?
I don’t; prosecutors and occasionally state lawmakers do that.
But no one’s going to go out and kill people simply because someone said that
If this is going to be a go-round about the definition of “simply”, I’m hella uninterested, because the definition of “radicalization” is generally understood, and almost all of these psychos are more than happy to tell you exactly what their psycho manifesto is once they’ve popped off and started killing people.
Incitement of violence is already illegal though. And where do you draw the line on what is “hate speech”?
Sure, its entirely reasonable why someone would find comparing homosexuals with sex offenders to be disgusting. But no one’s going to go out and kill people simply because someone said that. That carries the same logical merit as arguing video games cause school shootings. It’s a slippery slope fallacy
Yeah, what justifies hate speech laws (which mostly don’t exist in the US) is the quantifiable fact that hate speech is directly linked to incitement of violence, which is an immediate threat to public order even if someone really, really has a hateboner for some frequently-discriminated-against minority group.
TL;DR: hackbarth is right, “It’s not actively illegal for me to spout ignorant hateful shit” is a pathetic excuse almost entirely used by worthless assholes trying to paint some veneer of acceptability on their worthless assholery. If somebody says something shitty, nobody is
oppressing their rightsby pointing out that they said something shitty.I mean, yes, you’re correct. Doesn’t justify Hate Speech Laws.
Preach
I have the right to my opinion is a pretty shi-yay defense. It bogs down to “Th biggest defense I can make of my point is that it isn’t illegal to say it”
And the opinion that the mere existence of same-gender couples makes a kids show not for children anymore is worse.
It’s very close to saying that same sex couples should not be allowed to exist in the presence of children, and very near saying that they should not exist at all.
But yes, you have a right to say that.
I have a right to judge where that line of reasoning lead to.
I hate that ‘not all of us!!!’ argument. Like no shit, you’re not a fucking hivemind. But christianity does have an unusually high number of homophobes, and most of them attribute said hatred to their religion. There’s a problem with Christianity being homophobic, even if that rule isn’t a constant, because no rule is a constant. Sorry. We are allowed to point this stuff out lol, especially when it’s from people attacking the types of people that are in the thousands that watch this show :(
We’re talking about this image.
We aren’t speculating about possible other religions or their possible other adherents who possibly may have done something compatible to these people - we’re talking about these people in THIS image.
We’re talking about the sentiments expressed in THIS image. The religious intolerance displayed by THESE people.
If you want to complain about other people in OTHER religions being intolerant fundamentalists, feel free to do that on whatever image that is happening.
But THESE people need to be stood up against. THESE people are in the wrong. And passing it off with “it’s just an opinion” as some have been doing, or saying that “other religions do it too” is not addressing what THESE people are doing.
This is not about stereotyping others, and I’m not replying to you because I think I should be able to stereotype others based on what these people said. This is about you defending THESE people and what THEY ARE SAYING in real life - not speculation, but in real life. And saying that everyone else here has no right to stand up and say; “This shit will not stand.”
Sorry, this shit shall not stand. Whatever your problems are with OTHER religions or OTHER people doesn’t matter. This is about THESE people and THESE statements.
Edited
yeah, there are some Christians who are complete loonies, but not all of them are like that. what about the other religions? aren’t there fundamentalists in those groups spewing hate and ignorance also? anyone can be a whackjob regardless of their beliefs.
I am a Christian, but I also happen to be LGBT… and, no, I do not believe in the whole “homosexuality is a sin” shebang. nor am I forcing you to believe the way I do. that would be outrageously unlike me. and I take virtually nothing in the Bible literally.
it’s sad that you guys see the world as black and white when you should be seeing it as different shades of gray. don’t be throwing people into the same mould. it’s called stereotyping, for fuck’s sake!
but if you wanna see me as a whacko, go ahead. who am I to judge you?
Edited because: typo
At this point I just want to ban everyone in any of these threads. It’s been almost 2 months of people freaking out that there might be gays, lesbians, or transgendered people in the world, and despite all that everyone has said, some people are polluting years old images with these debates looking for someplace where no one will disagree with them.
@Bexar Bandito
Yeah, this. Pointed at the wrong person. Fixed.

pretty sure she put in the wrong @ because that was definitely directed at the other guy.
also huge props to you derpy because everything you said was 100% right on the money and it relieves me to have a voice of reason like you here.

Are you confused about which comment you’re replying to, or have I fallen into an alternate universe where a multi-paragraph strawman argument is an appropriate response to humorously responding to an earlier strawman argument?
Go look at the scarecrow TLFwtEatM is yelling at, then go look at any of my comments here and tell me if you see any similarity between them.
These people in this screenshot are using their “religion” as an excuse for their bigotry, ranging from calling people - let’s admit it - many of us on the site - freaks, mentally ill, and comparing us to pedophiles for being consenting adults loving who we want to. And then let’s throw on to that pile of reprehensible bigotry people bitching about same sex couples standing in the back of the room holding hooves “indoctrinating children about sex” while saying not one word about same sex characters in the same series having children or being married.
If that’s their religion, then it deserves some attacks.
Defend them all you want, but their excuse for their reprehensible and anti-social behavior on behalf of, and in “defense of”, their religion is intolerant, bigoted, and - let’s be honest - “seeing devils in the room around them retarded”.
If you expect others to behave based on the feelings of your invisible friends, and consider yourself attacked when other points of view merely exist, then you do not have the high ground here.
The right place for that is church - they can do that in church all they want to. But when they can behave like in civil society, and expect others in the civil marketplace to conform to their religious echo chamber, then their argument is 100% worth attacking.
PS: Just speaking for myself, not for the site. Still …

so, hostility towards someone based on their sexual orientation is unacceptable but attacking someone based on their religion is a-okay?
Doin’ purty good there, pardner– maybe someday you’ll be able to lasso a real argument!
Not their religion, just the stuff they do with it.
Not that nobody slips up in that regard.
Well, THAT’S a new one. Points for creativity, I guess.
I have my own gripes with how Scootaloo’s family was handled, but this is just cartoonish.
so, hostility towards someone based on their sexual orientation is unacceptable but attacking someone based on their religion is a-okay? no, that’s just hypocrisy. any form of discrimination based on a person’s background (race, gender, age, nationality, etc.) is bad.
IT’S JUST AN OPINION
Yeah, no, that’s bullshit. In 2018 there were 49 organized anti-LGBT hate groups in the US, LGBT people are far more likely to be attacked in violent hate crimes than any other minority group in the US, and hate crimes in general increased for the fourth year in a row in 2018, to the highest level in over a decade.
Homohating trashtalk is not
AN OPINION, it’s a direct material threat to public order.
