like I had mention in statuses before, I’ve decided to add this old oc of mine to my Nextgen, specially since she technically was one before the whole nextgen thing took off for me.
She used to be a Nightmare moon x Starswirl bab, but I’m changing it to Nightmare moon x Sombra. She is the twin of Amaris/Blood Moon.
She’s lanky like Luna when she gets older, and ends up about Cadence’s size.
The poor girl was abandoned at a young age because of Luna’s Banishment and Sombra mysteriously disappearing with her brother months after they were born. She could cope with Nightmare Moon, as she knew it was necessary for Equestria, but could never get over her father. Celestia took her on while Luna was gone and raised her. She has a best friend named Moon Pie, who isn’t the kid of anyone.
Celestia, unsure of her sister’s decisions, decided that she wouldn’t tell the ponies of Equestria of Midnight, as she was afraid it would be too much after having to announce Luna’s Departure. Celestia herself gave her the name Midnight Wish, feeling it was fitting, and was secretly “wishing” Midnight would eventually be the key to saving Luna.
So, she had grown up in the castle with Celestia, She showing her all the things Luna would do with a smile on her face. Though she was deeply grieving her sister and hoped she could find a way to help, she didn’t want to break down on her subjects and Midnight.
She told her that Midnight would be able to do all the things she was showing her herself when she got older and was sure of her abilities, and that she’d be there every step of the way.
She’d take the filly with her to travel and socialize. People wondered why she got such special treatment, but she dismissed it by saying she was a student of hers.
During this time, they had found a small village where she met her best friend, Moon Pie. They. Were. INSEPERABLE.
She had even moved in to the tiny village that Moon lived at, where they secretly got married, and Celestia couldn’t have been happier for her, all teary eyed and a happy Aunt.
Things went fine for years until Sombra appeared back on the radar. They heard that he had taken over the Empire, and that his grasp and power over it was so strong, they had no choice but to banish the entire Empire.
She kissed Moon goodbye, warning her that this could be the last time she sees her, and set off for the Crystal Empire to help. While she was going to go help Celestia and Amore fight him, he felt a personal attachment to the situation, and wanted to see if she could talk to her father at least once and try to convince him to be on their side.
She had just arrived to the Crystal empire when Celestia and Amore were banishing Sombra, and tried to stop them. Unfortunately, she couldn’t do much besides get trapped in the Crystal Empire, and was banished with it. Celestia and Amore had no time to react or save her, and Celestia prayed could save her, just as she prayed she could save Luna.
Fast forward to when the Crystal Empire had popped up again. Immediately realizing what was going on, Midnight snuck off as fast as she could before anyone noticed. She didn’t know Luna was back and reformed, and didn’t want to show her face to Celestia as she thought she’d think of her as a failure/traitor for wanting to try and save Sombra before banishing him.
Celestia and Luna frantically looked for Midnight after sending Twilight there, but couldn’t find her. Luna was heartbroken, feeling like a failure despite having little to no control over the situation she was in. She wanted to meet her child desperately, and that’s all she knew.
Midnight went back to the town she lived in, and was surprised to find ponies with Equal signs for cutie marks. Quickly realizing what was going on, she ignored Starlight’s propaganda and asked to see the cemetery, as she just wanted to see if she could find her “friend.” Even in her corrupted state, Starlight saw how sad she looked and took pity on her. She told the town’s folk to let her be, and showed her to the graves where she left her there alone.
She searched up and down for her grave but never found her. She found other ponies’ graves she knew, but couldn’t find her…
Until she lifted her head up to her eyes with a hoof, wiping off the frustrated tears Midnight was crying.
Clearly worn down and aged, Moon pie smiled and kissed her wife on the lips.
“Ya honestly thought I was dead, huh! I knew you’d think that, that’s why I went here. I’ve been stayin’ in this kooky town ever sense I heard about what happened at the Crystal Empire. Yer as predictable as these crazy ponies, sweetheart. As for thinkin’ I was dead, why this old fart couldn’t go anywhere until she saw ya again.”
She smiled and they took off, finding an empty place and making a makeshift shelter. Not long after, Moon pie peacefully passed away in her sleep, cuddled up next to Midnight.
She really was waiting for her.
Midnight’s emotions were destroyed, but she was glad she could spend time with Moon Pie in her final moments. It was better than her dying while she was trapped in the Crystal Empire.
She continued to live in that shack she built, being an overall social recluse. (It was better than dealing with the crazies at “Our Town.”)
She heard of Sombra coming back, and once again traveled to the Crystal Empire to try and meet him.
She had made it just in time to see him killed.
This hit her hard as well. She stood by where his horn was after everyone had left and wept. She wished she could’ve at least talked to him just once before he was gone. She wished she could’ve turned him into their ally.
In her emotionally weakened state, she had decided it was finally time to go back and visit Celestia. She practically waltzed right into her thrown room, spooking the guards. They didn’t attack, however, because they knew of her existence and had seen the few pictures Celestia took of her.
Celestia practically broke down after seeing her, running up and hugging her, and taking her directly to Luna as soon as she got over her excitement and happiness.
Luna was so happy to finally meet her daughter after the thousands of years that had passed.
While it did take a while for her to form relationships with Luna, she became a very welcome, loved member of the family, and she ultimately made the decision to live with them just so she could know her mother better.
Time went on as Luna got married to Thorax, had Opalescence, Divorced him, got Married to Tempest, and then had Aurora.
She loved them dearly, and they were a happy family.
Then, Blood Moon showed up. Suddenly, Luna had a memory of him when she was Nightmare moon, and said that he was her twin brother. This shocked her to her core, and she did everything she could to help defeat him. With the Mane and Student Six, they did their best to take him down and reformed him. He was taken to Luna immediately and was taken under her wing. She had given him the name Amaris, and they were a happy family.
WOW THAT GOT LONG WTF.
Just wanted to doll this up for a ref real quick. It actually took longer to type what I did than to draw the doll, lol.
Anyways enjoy.
