Some possible theories re: Anthony Davis' list of preferred teams
Anthony Davis has made it clear to the Pelicans that he will not sign a contract extension with the franchise and requested a trade, thus paving the way for the Brow's exit from New Orleans.
And according to a report on Monday, first by Shams Charania and confirmed by USA TODAY Sports' Jeff Zillgitt, Davis informed New Orleans this week that there are four teams he would sign long-term with were he to be traded: The Lakers, Clippers, Bucks and Knicks.
Which has us wondering: Why those four teams?
Zillgitt has a fantastic breakdown of what teams can offer the Pelicans now and after the trade deadline, but we wanted to consider why Davis would choose each of those teams among all of the other NBA teams.
The Lakers have LeBron James, are in Los Angeles, and sure make a lot of sense for everything Davis wants to do with his career, supposedly. He could play with the best player of this generation, live in Los Angeles, and be a cornerstone for a franchise that has traditionally been fantastic.
The Clippers are ... also in Los Angeles.

The Bucks have Giannis Antetokoumnpo, which I guess makes the Milwaukee part worth it for Davis. I will say that the thought of Giannis and AD on the floor at the same time is nightmarish, and I mean that literally. Like I imagine an NBA point guard having an awful dream where his whole job is to score buckets but he can't because long arms appear out of nowhere time and time again and swatting the ball into the ether.
It's an update on The Demonic Tree in The Evil Dead and frankly I think I'd prefer being haunted by a possessed tree than Giannis and AD's arms swatting everything away at me.
Which leads me to the Knicks. I guess Davis likes New York City (why wouldn't you?), and I guess he is convinced he can be the guy who can make that franchise relevant again for the first time in who knows how long. Maybe he and Kyrie Irving have that sneaky deal thing where they know where they're going but they have to pretend like they don't, and they have a handshake deal to go to the Knicks and lead them to the NBA Finals, where they will lose to the Warriors in five.
Then again, its the Knicks, Anthony. If your goal is to win championships, uh, maybe put a couple other teams on the list. New York is amazing, but you can always visit.
