Starlight Glimmer is a light mage with her magics focusing on Force, Elemental protection and Raising Dead. She is a powerful unicorn who claims to have surpassed Twilight Sparkle before her training with The Void. During fights, she summons 3 “Force Orbs” which are created by channeling Dark Mage powers she had previously absorbed over time. In order to strengthen these orbs, especially when facing off against Dark Mages, she suspends their use during a “First Tier” fight while using an elemental barrier to absorb offensive magics from Dark Mages. She levitates with the barrier up, but cannot use her orbs during this “Magic Absorbing” phase of her battle. What she can do, however, is summon either shadows of all who the Dark Mage (or other opponent) had killed, as well as nearby late creatures bone structures to conduct suicide attacks against her opponent all while her orbs continue their charge or absorption. Despite having an elemental barrier, Starlight can in no way defend herself against physical attack since she is using each and every aspect of her unicorn magic simultaneously. This means that she can constantly take damage, although reduced, with no means to fully defend herself. Should either her stamina be halved or the orbs fully charged, Starlight can then remove her elemental barrier and touch the ground now fully using her orbs as physical force hammers against her opponent, however, now susceptible to taking full damage.
 
Battle with Vibi Anna  
After witnessing a unicorn which fully resembled Trixie enter Ponyville with the demand of “Twilight’s Soul”, Starlight had knew from the beginning, that something was too odd about this unicorn to be Trixie. Especially since she was unaware of who Starlight was, nor was she aware of the thawed relationship with Twilight. After a bitter confrontation with Twilight’s friends, this unicorn had single hoofed those who had defended Twilight as well as Twilight herself using magic with out the use of her horn. The unicorn was stopped, however, by a visiting Line Ark pony named White Glint in which this unicorn seemed fully submissive too. Starlight had then confronted this unicorn who revealed herself to be a shape-shifting Earth Pony called Vibi Anna. Vibi had confessed to Starlight that her intention was to merge souls with an Alicorn Princess in order to remove a curse she accuses Princess Celestia of placing on her. She had also learned that she had taken Trixie’s soul in order to find and get close to Twilight. An enraged Starlight challenged Vibi to the death in order to avenge Trixie. Starlight had claimed despite Twilight’s power, she had actually surpassed Twilight in magic. Vibi had found her right in many ways. Startlight was the only unicorn Vibi could not steal part of her soul from in order to replicate her powers and figure. She had also learned that Dark Magic used against Starlight would only make her powerful. Nevertheless, Vibi eventually discovered Starlight was susceptible to physical strength after temporarily shifting into Fluttershy and commanding nearby animals to attack Starlight. Despite a gallant fight in Twilight’s Castle, Vibi eventually stopped Starlight from fighting any further telling her of a promise made to White Glint to bring Trixie back with the help of a friend from the Crystal Empire. Her only condition was that in one way or another, her curse be removed. After calming herself, Starlight had swore she would find a way to rid Vibi of her curse without the need to merge with an Alicorn Princess.  
The Equestrian Civil War
 
After the failed summit between Line Ark and Princess Celestia to formally become Equestrians after years of being banished, a civil war was short to follow with most of Ponyville including Applejack and Pinkie Pie siding with Line Ark. Starlight had naturally followed Twilight and stayed with Equestria during Line Ark’s push to take Canterlot as well as the formation of the Equestrian Insurgency after Canterlot’s fall. Starlight had remained subordinate to Twilight and the Royal Guard in which she was eventually promoted to Captain of the Royal Guard by Twilight. Starlight had nevertheless always obeyed Twilight’s wishes on where and when she wanted the guard to be. After the fall of Canterlot, Twilight and Starlight had scoured as much of Equestia as they could to find all who were still loyal to Princess Celestia. Eventually this included a battle damaged Rainbow Dash (from a battle with Vibi) and an emotionally scared Rarity. Soon after enough of the insurgency was organized, Twilight had formed a fleet of Airships housing the new Equestian Insurgency with their flagship piloted by Starlight, and the general army by Twilight. Even after Rainbow Dash’s eventual takeover (after being promoted to Admiral) Starlight continued to remain subordinate to Twilgiht taking her orders as they went, even if they ended up being disastrous in the end.
 
Peace Treaty with Line Ark  
After one specific battle with then Princess Anna (after Vibi Anna merged souls with Princess Luna) Twilight had described to her that she had battled Trixie who was now fighting for Line Ark. This raised Starlight’s curiosity as if she was wondering if Trixie was really alive. She knew she would discover the truth after Twilight and Vibi’s final battle in which both ponies had destroyed themselves leaving Starlight to claim her position as the new princess of Friendship. Starlight had immediately contacted the Line Ark counsel and requested a private meeting with the one they called Trixie. During that meeting, Starlight saw for herself, that Vibi had honored her promise and brought back Trixie. After a joyful reunion, both ponies had figured with each other on powerful political positions in both sides, they could form a peace treaty ending the bloody war between Line Ark and Equestria. With Starlight as the Princess of Friendship, Admiral Dash would have to halt her attacks and honor a cease fire while Trixie ratified the peace treaty with the Line Ark Counsel. With no more fighting happening between Equestria and Line Ark, Line Ark focused their attention to a small force of Trators lead by Admiral Sunset Shimmer. Line Ark had eventually defeated Admiral Shimmer leaving all but a matter of time before Line Ark and Equestria finally lay their arms in peace. For Starlight, it was the peak moment of her life, bringing war torn factions to a peace, something that neither Twilight nor Vibi could have done.  
Starlight’s victory lap was however short lived, as one day Rarity showed up to her chambers with orders from Admiral Rainbow Dash: To permanently remove Starlight as the Princess of Friendship…
