I’m so close. All I need is a penny. Anyone? I can’t guarantee I’ll pay it back though. I sold my cardboard box I live in just to get $1,000. No regrets. Totally worth it. I’m now on the streets just surviving out here, with new Tempest uploads my only passion. What am I to do?

It has passed a few days or weeks ago. The biggest issue is how badly formulated and defined it is. Thus there is much room for interpretation from “nothing changes” up to “everything’s prohibited”.
Other than that companies like YouTube censor stuff and push unjustified copyright takedowns ignoring fair use since years already.
The real article 13 that was passed is a vague jumble of gibberish that doesn’t actually state anything concrete, nothing more. While it is possible for the law to be modified in the future into, or to be set as precedent, for a more draconic copyright law, people are just bandwagoning and doomsaying. I’m not saying people shouldn’t be concerned, but don’t grab the pitchforks just yet. Even the original law was not going to “kill the internet” more than the 2012 changes to Youtube copyright terms did for that platform, which was also immensely overreacted to. Many EU countries like Spain and Germany already have laws that are similar or can be used virtually indistinguishably from what the original article 13 aimed to do.
In the US, SLAPP lawsuits can be and are used for the same purposes or even more nefarious ones constantly. Even when there’s laws trying to prevent these and similar strategies (just ask mr. president).
I don’t live in the EU, so I don’t really think all of this article 13 stuff applies to me, but most of what I’ve read into it the past several months sounds down right horrible, I gather it’s all about pushing copy right laws to the ‘nth degree, in a really stupid way.
If it does pass into law, and the derpibooru servers stay in the EU, I’m not really sure how it will stay intact with all of the images on here right? I don’t really know I feel about generic screen caps being deleted, but there’s a lot of memes and screen cap comics that I’d love to keep….

Its just the April fools stuff. I get that the site mods are having fun, but there is a difference between funny fun and really fucking annoying.
