Description
I spent a while trying to make something, anything to show for my progress with this. My Rainbow Dash drawing was swiftly removed (Due to my report on myself) since I didn’t want the traced work up when the original artist specified not to on their page. It did help with learning bodies, though.
Anyway, this started as some random doodling and I really didn’t want to have to draw wings again, so I decided to make a new character. It wasn’t going to be official but I didn’t know who to convert it to without changing a bunch of stuff. This evolved into a new character named ‘Nova Épeler’ which is French for ‘Nova Spell’. Apparently, the French word for Nova is Nova… Anyway, this character is a unicorn whose horn broke due to reasons I haven’t yet decided.
She does have a backstory that I am thinking of putting into a spin-off of ‘Darkest Light: Lone Wolf’ (Maybe ‘Darkest Light: Broken Phoenix’?) where I can tell the story and line it up with Solar’s pre-existing world. It would be interesting to read the story from two perspectives, but it would all depend on how much free time I have for writing. Life is only getting more cramped right now.
Her defining features are her obsession with conquering death, through magical or medical means, due to losing her family at a young age. She is less open than Solar, living life pushing those around her away for fear of forming an attachment. It would be interesting to write such a character, y’see. Her runic eyes glow softly, not unlike Solar’s when she feeds or is otherwise energised, causing her to be ousted from normality at birth. Having been born to a family of nobility and later losing them, she has fallen into a vastly different crowd than Solar has - which will be a nice dynamic.
As you can see, her colour scheme is very different as well. She specialises in spells regarding fire, light and life, but they are volatile and prone to failure due to her damaged horn.
I really hope I have the time for this spin-off.
As for the picture, it was kind of rushed. Especially the tail, which I just could not get right - but it was beginning to drive me nuts and I really want to move on to other projects, such as learning wings. Not to mention, I recently got access to a new and more prestigious art program, which I want to move over to if I can.
As per usual. Better up than off.
