You know I see logic in this. I still think it’s a bit extreme to harass her on twitter.

I don’t dislike G.M. Berrow’s writing generally and the error is minor, but she should still be willing to own up to it, not tell others to stop noticing. MLP’s a show full of little details and continuity aspects that are intended to be noticed and appreciated. It’s a very bad place to suddenly suggest your audience is wrong for not turning a blind eye to them.
 
And to some others in the comments here, calling fans pathetic for realizing or being disappointed by this isn’t very mature either. They care. Don’t discourage that.

I agree with what they did here, it was dumb as hell but I still liked it

I have a feeling that now that the series is about to end the staff is happy because they don’t have to deal with this kind of shit anymore

She need the song to calm her down. At the same time Fluttershy making a ladybug care assingment to her student which lead to her fear of ladybugs to come back.  
During It ain’t easy being a breezy, we can only see one ladybug. That one little ladybug can’t trigger her phobia towards it.  
Now with Fluttershy create an assingment for her student that involving more then one ladybugs like a classroom full, it started to trigger her childhood memories that she afraid of ladybugs.
 
or …….. The writers just want to have a little fun.

You wanna know what the real problem is? All the fans are in a huff because we learned that the show’s ending. Basically, it was the last spark that the lit fuse needed.

Well, the comics are almost a definite non cannon, along with EQG. I’m not really into the shorts and only watch a few and get the rest of the info from here, but I can tell there’s some errors in continuity with them

Ladybugs Awake was probably foalsitter Cadance’s attempt to stop Twilight from freaking out, and the positive effect probably lasted all the way up through It Ain’t Easy Being Breezies. But when someone’s suddenly startled by something they “used to fear,” the cumulative effect of years of repression might be a phobic reaction stronger than ever before.

As someone on Twitter pointed out, the ladybug thing from It Ain’t Easy Being Breezies seems to have been done more to show the size difference, more than anything. Also, if it wasn’t in the script but in the storyboards, someone looking through the scripts for references to ladybugs wouldn’t find that scene.

Yea, they’re definitely soft cannon, cannon unless the show says otherwise (or it wouldn’t be possible within the show’s continuity).
