While that’s not bad reasoning, I still think her reasons to be evil were too irrational to empathize with her. It kinda reminded me of Heavy Rain’s twist of who the Origami killer is.
I’m not saying Starlight should never show weaknesses or emotions, because that would be silly. A character without human flaws is a bad character. But the specific weaknesses she’s given here and their place in the show don’t sync up with the rest of her character.
That’s reason enough to complain, but why do people still discuss her with arguments from both sides when, as an industry, we get animated films and animated TV shows with bad scripts more often than not? Well, because people love MLP for the characters.

huh? i was just explaining what really happened with starlight’s emotions in the s5 finale
Don’t engage.
it’s not just that, she was also going through the 5 stages of grief in the last episode of the s5 finale, and it wasn’t until twi somewhat noticed that she’s on the depression stage, so when she remembered what rainbow dash want through with her pet, she practically guide her to towards the final stage: acceptance, before she nearly teared the scroll completely.
I think she would have had a good backstory if she got at least 6 episodes in season 5 instead of 2 single episodes. That way we could know where she was, who she was, how her past was, her parents, his friend, and other things to enhance her personality.
If she got 6 episodes instead of 2, we would have got a better backstory than “my best friend moved away”.
I think we got this because the show wass mishandled many times because of many people wanting to get things their own way. It doesn’t have to be true because we don’t know what was going on, but it seems to me more plausible than the idea of a bunch of writers and producers saying “nah, just write something that’s good enough, people wouldn’t notice”.
My point still stands.
Can’t believe that you actually take these images serious…
Goes with my theory that she was so traumatized from getting her dreaded cutie mark, she blocked from her memory how it happened (Sonic rainboom). Which changed her life like it did for the other 6. Meaning her life was set on a course that would eventually lead her to the friends she was destined to have (Twilight and the girls)
Yeah you could be right.
Although in the original timeline, this may have happened to Starlight anyway.
Exactly. Or in a better position.
That day was when rainbow dash managed to break the sound barrier, which caused a shockwave to spread all over equestria, which affected 6 specific ponies, Twilight included, however if Starlight was put there instead of Twilight, she would be Celestia’s prodigy.

She doesn’t need to be in her place, she’s op she will beat Twilight in anything.
I’m aware, if she’s was in Twilight’s place that day, then the events will start to play out as it did for Twilight.

Don’t worry, it’s clear this is happening.
If Starlight’s dad did sign her in, then that will happen
Spike: Guess we were the ones who regretted this.
If she did, none of us would think that she even existed.
@genervt
Exactly.
This is what happens when you mess with time.
