I really like MLP/Spyro crossovers, for some reason, especially ones where Twilight and Spyro interact.

I always liked to link the stories together, like maybe after Spyro had been with Sparx for so long that he was able to understand their language and one day Sparx asked if Spyro could come visit him in his home. One monkey attack later they go to seek out who’s behind it and run into ignitus.

I wasn’t talking about power though, just mannerisms in general.  
Classic Spyro is confident bordering on arrogant, and impatient, relying more on his natural talent and instincts than anything else.  
Legends still has that confidence about him, but it’s more reined in. He’s a lot more patient which would bring a more learned knowledge base.
 
Classic Spyro would lead me to the portal, and then take off to go do his own thing, Legends Spyro would offer up information he knows and stick around to help with the study.

Why not a combo? The power from The legend of Spyro and the firefly design from classic Spyro

Personally, I see this sort of scene happening more easily with Legend Spyro instead of Classic Spyro.  
Classic Spyro is too impatient to take any amount of time sitting behind a book and explaining the intricate workings of the magitek of the Dragon/Forgotten realms and Avalar.  
He’d be more of the type to go “Just cause I use them so often doesn’t mean I know how they work! Talk to the Professor, or Bianca, or one of the Mystics, or just go study the portal I came out of to get here.”
 
Even somepony as cluey as me would be asking questions or need expanded explanations on certain things, which I think Legend Spyro would have the patience and knowledge to explain things better.
 
However, going by Sparx’ design, that’s Classic/Reignited Spyro, and while he’s eager to help out where he can, it’d be more in the sense of “You need me to grab some books from the Professor, or Bianca, or the Sorceress’s lair? I can do that, no problem!”

Yay Spyro! Ripto’s Rage was the first game I played for ps1.

Spyro: Yea, the professor built one of these things. I don’t understand the science behind it but they let me get around places. He used these orbs and then this red stone Ripto stole… That was an interesting adventure… man did I need to wind down in Dragon Shores after that.

That’s quite ambiguous… very suggestive too, considering the last picture from this artist with Twilight and a dragon in it.

It would work fine. Jumping through a portal to Equestria wouldn’t be any different from jumping through a portal to Avalar to Spyro.
