In Florida, Couple Arrested For Having Sex On Grave In Historic Cemetery

A Florida couple was reportedly caught engaging in explicit activities inside a historic cemetery. Joseph Luke Brown and Stephanie Kay Wegman, both residents of Webster, allegedly arrived in a white Nissan, which they parked outside the entrance. Despite the gate being locked, they managed to trespass and made their way to a secluded area toward the back of the cemetery.
Brown and Wegman were arrested on March 26 after the authorities found them having sex on the top of a grave, as reported by People. Police also discovered various types of hard drugs in their vehicle.

A state trooper suspected something unusual when he located the car outside the cemetery, which reportedly dates back to 1850. The vehicle, registered to both Wegman and her husband, was empty and had its windows down. Police were immediately called up, leading to further investigation.
Upon reaching there, the officers thoroughly searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine, Xanax, and oxycodone in it. The couple was detained on charges of drug possession and was sent to the county jail, People reported.

While Wegman was directly put behind bars, Brown required medical attention for a preexisting leg injury. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, with police seeking a warrant for him.
As per the People report, Wegman was charged with “two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and a single count of trafficking oxycodone". Police records revealed that a few weeks before the incident, the woman had been arrested on charges of “possession of drug paraphernalia".
As of now, Wegman has been held without bond. She is slated to be presented before the court on April 12.
The cemetery, situated in a semi-rural part of Florida, has been abandoned for a long time. The last burial took place there back in 1924. Given its historic significance, the place found its place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.
