Thanks for the insight :) I do certainly agree that Cpl Colgate does have a very nice ring to it!
 
One other complication is that, if this does follow a WWII-like setting, then in real-world equivalence Colgate, as a female, would be in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force so technically she’d already be in another branch.
 
That said, I simply don’t know enough about how the system(s) worked back then to speak with enough authority (I can’t even get the dress-code right!) but I never meant my comments to be a criticism - it’s a really lovely picture, with a heart-warming theme and you should be very happy with it. :)

If it counts this was my commission and I thought Cpl Colgate had a nice ring to it, that an Kaimanawa (my OC) was very fond of his loyal aide. I imagine an officers rank would’ve meant a transfer to another branch.

They appear to be indoors. You don’t wear a cover while indoors. Minuette’s office might be in that building. She’d have no reason to have her cover on her while finger-wagging a hotshot pilot.

Although… Personally I feel Minuette should herself be an officer - plus she should be wearing a hat. Maybe dress code in the REAF/WEAAF is not quite the same.
