@DoomPony
So it’s not Trixie, it’s the door that’s magical?
I kid, I kid. Still, it’s a little weird to see magic handed out like candy, as long as you’re a highschool girl or a pet. Or rather, without any real foreshadowing. The setup with the smokebomb does not count for setting up actual magic.
@DoomPony
The difference is that your example does not create any internal inconsistencies, it is merely unrealistic, which is not a flaw in and of itself.
@Starswirl
To be fair, this obstacle doesn’t make real world sense either. No modern school would be allowed to have rooms that people could get locked into without at least one side having an easy way to unlock. This exists solely to keep Trixie out of the climax.
What does that have to do with her somehow being able to teleport for no reason?
@PonyPon
This franchise is usually self-consistant, and even when it’s not, the inconsistencies are never this blatant, with the possible exceptions of some character motivations and actions, and even then, they usually try to give some sort of explanation.
It could be because she’s practiced for years. Or because of Equestrian magic seeping through the portal.
Or maybe she finally has a friend, and is trying to do this for her sake; knowing that Sunset will suffer if she doesn’t succeed. Friendship is Magic, after all.
