Life is a video game and you are the hero
I never really understood the NPC meme, though. A lot of people seem to use it to bash those who make fun of leftist talking points and their repetitive nature, but I’ve found that the right-wing slogan machines seem to do a better job of running into that problem. Just my 2 bits. I don’t wanna dive too deep because I don’t wanna make the mods’ life more difficult than it already is.

Funny thing is, many of those “NPC” really do act like the very strawmen people call them.
It’s quite difficult to parody those who are already doing a better job at doing it themselves.
The picture of Stalin in the background proves this is obvious satire.
No one on the left pretends everyone is special. That’s a strawman put out by the Right. The whole point of the NPC meme was as a bitter response from Trump fans to “get back” at those who constantly call him out, even though it’s for very good reason that they do.
And it’s hilarious that the people who claim that the Left are NPCs are the ones who follow the most cliched, cookie-cutter nationalist ideals of all time while chanting the same slogans over and over to fight back against “cucks” and “snowflakes.” If anyone is an NPC who is incapable of free thought it’s the 15 year old edgelords being redpilled by 20-something neckbeards.

Please take the gamergate/sjw/political discussions to Tartarus or the pro~~/anti~~ Kotaku/SJW thread of your choosing.
Especially ironic since they are programmed to use dehumanizing language.
Twilight: “Uh…Hello?”
Pinkie: “Have you seen those unicorns from Hammerfell? They’ve got curved horns. Curved horns.”
Twilight: “Well that was interesting alright.”
it’s a dumb meme pretending to be smart, and the only reasons it’s getting popular is because some idiot from Kotaku said that this meme apparently promotes Fascism or some dumb crap, and so people are now spamming it because of the reaction the Kootaku guy had.

All I have to say to that is oh boy.
The NPC meme points out in no unclear terms that many of the people we interact with on a daily basis are essentially braindead and running on autopilot. Spouting what amounts to canned responses when questioned on certain topics over and over again like NPCs in a video game. It’s anathema to the left wing especially since they’ve based their entire identity around being special and unique, only to realise now because of a meme that they’re exactly like their fellows, right down to their patterns of thought and action. More to the point that they’ve essentially turned off portions of their brain, namely critical thinking and pattern recognition so they do in fact act like little more than programmed robots. The best example of this is their response to the meme itself, where they’re complaining about being dehumanised while utterly ignoring the fact they’ve been calling their political opponents russian bots for the last three years.
It’s hilarious. Also because of things like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fHfgU8oMSo it’s almost like we’re living in a simulation and they skimped on response variety.
From what I can gather, it’s a meme that come from 4chan and /pol/.
Basically saying that people who like mainstream things (Marvel, Star Wars, Steven Universe, etc.) and share popular left-leaning political opinions are like NPC’s from a video game, that have no perosnality or free will and just like/do what other people tell them to do.
Basically just another way of going “Everyone around me is a mindless sheep, im the only one who can form a free will/opinion of my own”, that /pol/ likes going on about.
