Pluto is an 5G antenna meant to spread your mobile phone information to outer space so aliens can target you with personalized adds. This is all their fault.

No, but it does say it was believed at first that Eris was slightly larger than Pluto.
(It has since been proven otherwise, and I had missed that).

I provided the link so as to avoid any further arguing.
(On a side note it’s a pretty informative site too. And space facts interest me).

It’s down to size, and brightness.

The smaller something is, the harder it is to see.

Also the dimmer something is, the harder it is to see.

Stars are easy to spot because they shine.
Planets don’t. It’s that simple.

Until we sent probes out that far, Pluto was only seen as a few pixels in even high res images, so we didn’t know exactly how big it was. Until then we thought it was about the size of Mars. In actuality Pluto is smaller than our moon. (Not by much though).

I don’t understand astrology (or is it astronomy I never know which is which), they have information from things billions of light years away but can’t quite see everything in our own solar system.

To be fair, Pluto is actually on the inner edge of the kuiper belt, which has several so-called dwarf planets. Some aren’t even named properly yet, just have code names.

It was the discovery of another dwarf planet that caused Pluto to be demoted.

Eris. (Named after a God of Chaos). It’s actually a little bigger than Pluto.

There’s also several other bodies in our solar system that can be classified as dwarf planets. (Ceres for example).

However, don’t worry. There’s plenty of evidence that there really is a ninth planet in our solar system. The most distant small worlds and asteroids we can see have a very odd orbit, as if something large which we haven’t seen yet is affecting them.

I’m pretty sure that one is not the subset of the other, despite their similar names.

Now that I think about it, with the Sun having to be moved manually, the Equestrian definition of a planet is very likely different than ours, so Pluto might still be considered a planet there. (Assuming they do have a Pluto, that is. Is Pluto canon?)

Y’know, some scientists are starting to argue that sense our moon is larger then other planet’s moons, it’s possibly “too big” to be considered a “Moon.” (But then what will we call it, if it’s not a moon anymore?)

First, Pluto is “too small,” now our Moon is “too big.” (Body-shaming! j/k)

Not a Llama - Happy April Fools Day!

If you regard Pluto as a planet, then you also have to include Eris, Ceres, Haumea, and Makemake, and be ready for a bunch of new ones to come in as they’re discovered.

I don’t really object to that, but it won’t satisfy the “There are nine planets, dammit!” crowd.
