I don’t think so. Trixie as a villain is really funny, with harmless evil plans that blow up in the traditional “I’ll get you next time, Gadget!” way. Starlight as a villain is much less fun to watch; as one of the good guys, I still don’t like her much, but every single one of her interactions with other characters is gold.

And Sunset? We’ve seen Sunset-like villains in other media, including some extremely iconic characters, but I’m not aware of a single other piece of genre fiction that unequivocally presents someone like Sunset Shimmer as good. (Feanor comes closest.) Having Sunset as the good guy has a way of warping or breaking good-guys-and-bad-guys plots; I think we see this most vividly in Legend of Everfree, where Gloriosa Daisy is playing defense for the entire movie, because Sunset is an order of magnitude better at sneaking off into the woods and doing shady things with magic than she is. (We also see the mirror image of this in the beach shorts, where Sunset desperately chases after any opportunity for action she can get.) Adagio Dazzle also doesn’t really know what she’s getting into – or rather, she does know what she’s getting into, but she turns out to be wrong – and Legend of Everfree would have been a gloomy movie about shaking off the tyranny of Principal Cinch, had Sunset not turned it into something like a psychological duel.

I don’t know what this story is called, or where to find it (I once saw it as a Google Doc, I think), but I’ve heard that there’s a take on Superman: Red Son for Sunset Shimmer, a story where the mirror takes her into the Soviet Union in WWII instead of the United States in the 2010s – and Sunset rises quickly through the local Party leadership, leading the resistance against the Nazis and of course rising in rank and prestige in the process. For Sunset, it’s not about having the right principles in place, it’s about having the right people in charge – which of course means Sunset herself plus her loyalists, and of course she always has loyalists. (Why wouldn’t she? Everyone has to sleep.)

As far as Starlight Glimmer? Sunset respects people with personalities like her own. She doesn’t care about Starlight’s former politics – and frankly she probably wouldn’t care even if they were her current politics – but she sees that Starlight has the particular kind of heroic spirit that can make you the last boss in an RPG, and that’s all that Sunset needs in a close potential friend.

That is false. She never did it for power or control of Equestria. Ever. You are mistaking her for every other MLP villian. In fact, even when she did still have her cutie mark, she still lived the same way as everypony else. She ate the same foods, had the same kind of house (with nothing nopony else had), and didn’t have anypony doing anything for it. In fact, it was’t any different from if she didn’t then what it would be if she didn’t have her cutie mark.

“What are we going to do tonight?”
“The same thing we do every night. Try to take over the world!”

Is it weird that I prefer Sunset and Glimmer as good girls than villains, and Trixie should stay as a villain than a good girl?

I actually kind of like Starlight’s ideas about nobody being better then anypony else. It just needs to be on the other side of the scale. Everypony is exceptional.

A pony hellbent on being far above everybody else is getting along with a pony hellbent on making sure NOBODY is better than the others?

How is this possible? This is like, if an extreme advocate of cutthroat capitalism is somehow friends with a totalitarian communist!

???: Hey, what’s going on here!?

The two look to see…Sunset and Starlight again

Sunset: For crying out loud, we gave up our evil ways and this happens as a result?

Starlight: Looks like it…

Starlight : You steal the element of magic with that we can control other element and I brainwashed this whole building and turn them into an army of villain against Equestria. Deal.
Sunset : Deal.
Starlight : Soon, Equestria will be ours and no pony or creature or villain will be able to stop us.
