Pretty much. She basically sees others as personal belongings. It’s not to say she’ll just run around killing and harming others for no reason but she certainly wouldn’t hesitate to do either to you if she wanted or needed to, and the only reason she’ll be nice to you is for her own benefit :P

Just don’t piss her off. She has zero empathy. Of the three she’s by far the worst. Mean Mave is almost as bad but she’s at least inclined to not cause harm for the hell of it (she wants potential hosts after all). Mean Tremble is by far the least “mean” of the group since she’s just so unmotivated and listless she has next to no drive to do anything to you :P

A lot of animals figure out ways around them too. Feline predators know how to flip a porcupine over, pinning it by sticking it’s own quills in the ground, and going for it’s unprotected belly, and coyotes team up with badgers to hunt gophers: the coyote chases it when above ground to tire it, and the badger goes in if it makes it to a burrow (and whoever gets it first eats it). Nature’s scary but REALLY fascinating :D

Rattlesnakes don’t rattle to bite, they rattle to ward off predators. It hasn’t worked well for them, as of late, and rattlesnake populations are dropping.

Yeah, but some mightn’t know that she has venom which may lead them to believe that the worst she can give them is a flurry of bites, which, while painful, probably wouldn’t be all that dangerous unless it got infected or she hit a major blood vessel.  
(Also, I headcanon that Normal Kali has a rattle, but she just breaks it off, since she’s a pacifist who has learned to suppress any urges she may have to bite someone.)

I know it’s already been mentioned, but it really is neat to see Kalianne (mean or not) in a non-_non_threatening pose that’s just about ready to strike. :D

Normal Kalianne is based on a Blue Malaysian Coral Snake, which is also venomous.  
But she doesn’t use her venom because she’s super friendly and really doesn’t want to hurt anyone.  
On the other hand, I could certainly see Mean Kali using her venom if she saw someone she didn’t like and thought they were intent on taking one of her “friends” away from her.

Did you know that Lamia was originally a woman with a shark mouth? I thought that was fascinating that the only thing that was different about the original is now a feature that is unchanged in modern renditions.

Most, if not all, but many Rattlesnakes no longer have useful rattles due to the ones with ineffective rattles surviving longer than the ones with effective ones. The rattles serve the purpose of warding off predators, such as you and I, but this has led to them being very easy to hunt. The ones with defective rattles (or the ones that don’t shed a new layer onto their original button) are lasting longer because predators such as humans, and especially badgers, are having trouble finding these snakes. The ones who rattle to ward off just really end up dying most of the time.
