I love how they’re using their magic antlers to self-levitate, too. Like, they’re an obvious reference to Santa’s reindeer and all. But they’re also given a perfectly sensible in-universe explanation for flying! An obvious detail, but I do love how smart this show can be! <3

Only an appearance. Gifts so they give each other openly at all without some involvement of supernatural forces, even in the format of fairy tales for foals. No Santas are implied at all, so referring to them in the form of these deer looks out of place.

They’re really milking hearts warming eve aren’t they. I mean they’ve been doing for a while but come on a whole one hour special dedicated to hearts warming? I would seriously much rather have a one hour power ponies episode.
