Setting is important. When she’s working with it she knows how and why it’s going off. When it’s random and not in her control prefaced with a dark spooky environment she gets scared.
…But this has her scared of the dark and lightning. She actually works with one of those things and gets zapped all of the time.

She also got spooked in 28 days later… and stage fright in Sonic Rainboom. Actually she gets scared pretty frequently throughout the series.
