She’s my favorite character, too, OP. And why did I find this picture? Because I’m watching the “scootabuse” tag. I love this shit.

Fine logic there my friend, fine logic indeed.
Its all for the good of the story, overcoming difficulty is, after all, a form of plot device.

Oh, chicken, you don’t get your own fanfictions… Time for another Scootabeating!

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

The Fluffiest
I don’t care for scootabuse. But I do support the ‘homeless orphan’ headcanon, in the way the ’90s had orphans, eg, she has a secret hideout where she lives.

Scootaloo’s my favorite pony in most rp and fanfic, possibly because of the dramatic significance of nonexistent, neglectful, or abusive family.

I don’t think most bronies hate Scootaloo. They just like drama. It’s more dramatic for her to be an abused disabled orphan than to be a happy, well-adjusted late-bloomer.

I don’t think it’s about us hating her so much as us trying to fill the gaps. What do we really know about her? She doesn’t have her cutie mark, she’s awesome on a scooter, she’s a major Rainbow Dash fangirl, and she seems to have some trouble flying. We fill the gap in her story with sad or offensive stuff because it lends credence to Hasbro’s refusal to fill it for us.

At least, that’s the theory I’ve developed on the matter. Personally I like Scootaloo, but I think her not being able to fly at all might be right.

There’s a difference between having her be abused for its own sake and having her overcome difficult circumstances for the sake of wanting to tell a good story. The headcanon of her coming from a broken home/being an orphan actually makes this episode even more dramatic and the payoff even more satisfying as she has finally achieved that which she been seeking for so long: An adult with whom she can share kinship with.

real question
why doesn’t Hasbro like Scootaloo?
her one episode doesn’t do anything to open her up and only establishes more what we already knew.

…and it’s not a real Twilight Sparkle fanfiction if she doesn’t fuck up any spells.

…and it’s not a real Rainbow Dash fanfiction if she’s not lesbian, horribly inept at landing, horribly dense and with the sensitivity of a compost heap. Your point?
