1. You’re forgetting how Sci-Twi has no romantic interest in Flash Sentry even though Princess Twilight did. That’s a mismatch right there.

3. LGBT couples aren’t a no-no. There is a confirmed gay male couple in EQG. Also times are changing and depictions of LGBT characters in fiction are happening more often, even in children’s media. Also it’s kinda dumb to imply a show can’t have more than one LGBT couple in it. Lots of shows have multiple hetero couples in them. And some shows have multiple LGBT pairings too, including ones aimed at children like Sailor Moon and Steven Universe.

1. EQG reflect FiM. If Cadance and Shining are together in FiM or Zephyr crush on Dash in FiM, then the same pairings are transfered to EQG. So far none of those pairings broke canon. Sci-Light date Timber, but since Princess Twilight doesn’t have a canon boyfriend, we don’t know if she doesn’t meet pony Timber in the future. Rarijack is teased in both unvirses, too.
    
2. Discord didn’t appear, yet. We can’t assume he will be an old man, for all we know they might change his voice actor to a younger one after G4 ends. And even then, director of EQG said that Timber is 17-18 years old, so mane6 are in similar age conisdering SciLight dates him and is at best the youngest of them all. It wound’t be hard to age Fluttershy into an adult, although they probably don’t want them to age them into college age just yet.
    
3. From marketing and toy perspective, it also don’t make sense to label Fluttershy to be a love interest to Discord and to some other dude in EQG when there is not a single popular male character. Especially LGBT couple is a no no, and even if they somehow allowed Rairjack, creating a second pair with FlutterDash would have been even more ridiculous. It would look like they all are lesbians and completely miss the target audience. IN the end, majority of that audience ship Discoshy and still remain under influence of Bride of Discord.
