Changelings can store somepony’s blood inside their bodies and dispense it when necessary. Also their clothes and hair are body parts. So you can just cut a string of mane from a pony to test them.

Actually, in Star Trek, Changelings could bleed, when they wanted to. But every part of their body separated from the main part turned back into its natural state after a while. They did, however, find a way to get around the blodd test. We never learned, how they did this.

There’s a better way to tell changelings apart from ponies: Just surround them with eggshells. The ones that start raving about pots of cream are the changelings.
