Hmm, I can see what you mean with Alien - in general, the movie was a horror, and monster take on the topics of sex, pregnancy and rape. (indeed, the Xenomorph, especially in the first movie, was described as an embodiment/personification of rape in the form of a monster, which has sense if you remember how the creature even reproduces, or and how it killed Joan Lambert).
 
With pregnancies, although neither I gone throught it, having been around pregnant women, yes it can cause some of the pegnancy tropes. Specifically about the hormone related mood swings, they are probable to happen, seeing pregancy does cause a visible change in the hormonal ballance of woman, which does affect the brain, and can do so visibly.

I’ve never been pregnant, is it really that much of an emotional roller coaster? I mean I’d just be freaked out if I were preggers, because I saw Alien too young. LOL, that doesn’t make much sense does it?
 
Anyway, lovely picture. Flash looks so loving here. I’m not sure if I like pregnancy tropes, they’re kind of obnoxious because they stereotype too much (all pregnancies are different) or if it’s funny because it’s true sometimes.blah blah blah
