Ponibooru was a poorly managed site, the mods didn’t give a shit. It was less a depository of MLP art and more like a pony version of 4chan in its prime.
 
You could post an image of the word “pony” and get upvotes. You could post a celebrity’s head on a horse body and get upvotes. You could post the most awful poorly written fanfiction ever shat out of a keyboard and get upvotes. There’d be pages upon pages of user created force memes and meta. And the moment you posted something, you’d get feedback (upvotes + comments) in minutes, and a guaranteed fav by roboshi with every image, no matter how lame or fucked up it was.
 
Ponibooru was really shitty, but it was beautiful clusterfuck of fun and total user freedom, its not surprising people miss it.

Long, LONG downtimes, spam, no constanst with tags or bans. Minus the lack of featured images, this place is better in everyway.

Countless manhours spent here (and that’s just waiting during site derp-ups) of course we will get attached, but I think everything happened for the best here. We have mods who care for one … and I thin just that would have been enough but bigger and better things have come forth and we must continue on

Sometimes we humans get so nostalgic about some “good old days” that we don’t notice the new, often even better, good things before us.
 
I admit that sometimes I miss the “early days” (May-June of 2011, right after I found the show) too, but then I return to the present and realize that things are much better now. The show has evolved, the fandom has evolved, the websites have evolved. Everything has evolved.
 
Ponibooru is gone and it will not come back, ever.

Ponibooru will always have a feeling of origin to me.

I prefer ponibooru, because the user posts had numbers associated to them, so sometimes you could get doubles, triples and more.

Im actually suprised at how many people prefer Derpibooru. I totally preffered the community of Ponibooru and it just felt more welcoming than this site. (Proof underneith)  
Wouldnt it just be nice to see it up again? Thats all I was saying! The times when it was down and laggy were something to talk about and the featured images that had so many Gifs posted on them that the page caused peoples browsers to crash. They’re all fond memories that I’d like to relive. That’s all

Most of us have moved on. Ponibooru was like a jalopy, it’d takes us from point a to point b but it would break down…alot.
 
Derpibooru is like a new Mercedes.
 
Anyway, we finally have a fave button so yeah.

When I moved to Derpibooru my life became 30% cooler.

I think that you’ll find the only way to get comments on something is to either spend days with a tablet on some godly work of art, or to whine about something Meta.
