No, it’s not, dude. They said it was intentionally implied. You’re kidding yourself if you don’t know that they’d show them kissing onscreen if Hasbro let them.
@Alexlayer
They’re not in a lesbian relationship. Also, Rarity has only shown interest in males, and she makes her interest pretty obvious. If she were bisexual, she would act the same way around females that she has a crush on as she does with males, but shew never does.
@Ihhh
I’m sorry, do you have any legitimate, canonical conformation of their sexuality? They never stated them to be LGBT (though they certainly largely implied it with this special), but neither did they ever confirm them as strictly straight, or even cisgendered for that matter.
Despite the downvotes, I agree with this pic’s premise. I see more of a bisexual theme for either of these two than outright lesbian. They just happen to be in a lesbian relationship.
@Angrybrony
That’s assuming that the idea of ending the show on Season 9 still applies. There’s no saying Hasbro can’t change their mind about that, specially when it’s information that they never meant to become public.
And speaking of all that info that got stolen about them, there was also something in the emails about Equestria Girls - the EqG we know - still going on even after the main show was over, so all the more chances for something like this happening in the EqG verse.
@Scrounge @Angrybrony
One thing can trigger a reaction in another, though. That’s my point. Steven Universe is paving the way for LGBT representation in cartoons aimed at kids, and might embolden other companies to follow through with their shows, with MLP being a strong contestant since there’s clear intentions from the staff to represent Queer people, and Hasbro has been doing amazing LGBT representation through their comics (which are less mainstream, but - much like with Marvel nowadays - serve as testing ground for companies as to what works and doesn’t). So, again, there’s hope yet.
@Alexlayer
That’s like comparing apples and obsidian. I specified the category, and you yourself said your example isn’t part of it. Different circumstances allow for different results.
I think they’d make a cute couple too, but let’s face the facts: Canon lesbians won’t be allowed in cartoons designed to sell toys any time soon, at least not in the United States.
@Bonklefan99
I’ve all ready been versed in the stuff that went on with that Not-Reboot/Not-Sequel. I do maintain however that the voice actor they got to replace Tony Jay as Megabyte did a fantastic job, not perfect, but if they ever do a ‘proper’ reboot or sequel, he should reprise the role of Megabyte.
@Evil Emperor Proteus
Reminds me of episode 10 of ReBoot: The Guardian Code where (apparently; I haven’t seen it) there was a stereotypical basement dweller that many viewers took as an insult to fans of the original ReBoot. The fans seem to have reason to be angry, though, as the showrunner not only included his young son too much in production (the protagonist is named after him for goodness sake) and followed a tired format, but completely wiped the slate of the original series; one interview went under the heading “Don’t call it a Reboot.”
If you want to find out more, rebootrevival.com is a site dedicated to the resurrection of the original show, which ended on a cliffhanger in 2001. Derpibooru user Badumsquish (he makes lots of Big Mac and object pony R34) is also a ReBoot fan and shares their dissappointment.
@Vadi19
Yeah, the ship teasing in the special had about the subtlety of an fucking industrial freight train, and as someone who doesn’t like the pairing it’s really just annoying with how in your face it was
