What happened to Spike’s real parents? Lauren wouldn’t say that they “dumped” him or “died…”

My guess is that it was some fan who asked: “Ey, Lauren, can u kill Spike’s parents, plz? I think it’d be cuter if he got adopted by Celestia instead.” I’m just saying.
