Alive or not they were sentient and sapient, so even if they weren’t technically alive they were still “killed” for lack of a better word In that they ceased to be.
Your comment reminds me of a kid who commented on my Too Many Pinkie Pies: The Appropriate Reaction comic.
“Twilight didn’t kill the clones. She sent them back rayman style and they were made back into peaceful magic pond water.”
YIKES. Kids can be freaking scary. O_O
“The Mean Six were […] just pieces of wood imbued with Chrysalis’s evil magic and given the form of ponies. The Tree just exorcised the magic from them, reverting them to the lifeless chunks of wood they were all along.”
…And ponies are made of carbon and water and stuff, let’s turn them back into those elements, all neatly piled up in seperate heaps! Geez! o_O
Being a vampire hunter becomes a lot easier when you realize you’re doing them a favor by staking them. Being undead is a curse, a dreadful state of existence where the soul is trapped on Earth and unable to seek its final destination. “Killing” vampires releases them from that.
If you went to stake them, and they got on their knees, saying they had a wife and kids, begging, would you still stake them?
This question can optionally include them drinking animal blood instead of human blood (or only so much human blood), tho it’s a much more interesting moral question if they are killing people.
Edited
Considering they had unique personalities and memories, i would think clarifying them as alive would be accurate
I’m not sure “killed” really applies here. The Mean Six weren’t exactly alive; just pieces of wood imbued with Chrysalis’s evil magic and given the form of ponies. The Tree just exorcised the magic from them, reverting them to the lifeless chunks of wood they were all along. At best, it’d be like staking a vampire.
The Tree of HARMony…
The Tree of Harmony killed them.
