A bit rude but you’re right. Sunset will never be acknowledge by the show proper and she has zero impact on anyone outside of EqG. Despite how hard some fight about being canon or not it is totally irrelevant because FiM treats Sunset has of she doesn’t exist. The main show and official material such as the official book say nothing of her.
Just point out the ep and season so he can be sure about it.
