Even if she’s still powerful, I think I’d agree that she’s still second - in terms of raw power - to Discord.

She was the first villain so she isn’t going to be as cool as Discord or Chrysalis, but she was still powerful. Celestia (for either magical or psychological reasons) couldn’t do shit to stop her, and the key to beating her was for Twilight, who at that point was a huge asshole, making friends. And she came close to killing the Mane Six in the forest.

Switch Discord and Nightmare Moon and they’d be in order from most to least powerful assuming Chrysalis has her love boost (starting with Discord at the top of course).

@BGP Faust said earth ponies have magic in their hooves, and the farming earth ponies grow crops easier and much faster than the other two pony races, so presumably it relates to their talent. Give it yo Applejack, and you got the Equestrian Johnny Appleseed. Give it to Tiara, whose talent is presumably leadership…. Possibly mind control and of course as an earth pony increased natural strength. DT taking control of ponies’ minds by touching them, eeeesh, scary filly. Maybe it could be used to attack too, giving her access to a Ghost Rider-esque version of The Stare. (which would be deliciously ironic since she’s a walking fount of misdeeds and bad conduct)  
Gilda would just become Bigger Jerkass Dash, but she probably could muster up some pegasi and other griffins impressed by her newly enhanced flying abilities. Maybe shock troops could be tamed/enslaved manticores.

Nightmare Moon was such a joke. Easily the worst of the five villains.

And Trixie would have stayed on here if they didn’t redeem her.

Flim and Flam get B tier becuase B tier is significant damage or loss of property of health. Diamond Dogs, Dragons and Amulet Trixie can all cause get amounts of property damage and loss of health, but Flim and Flam were going to take the Apples’s livelihood, which would have had the same effect as a dragon burning it down. They were just clever about it.

I’ve always organized the villains in tiers.
 
God Tier is Nightmare and Discord  
A Tier is Sombra and Chrysalis  
B Tier is aggressive dragons, the Flim Flam Brothers, Amulet Trixie and Diamond Dogs  
And C Tier is Gilda, Diamond Tiara and regular Trixie.

What if the alicorn amulet winds up broken, but still retains its magic? Tiara and Gilda, each with half, each assembling their own armies to reunite both halves, plunging the equestrian borderside into warfare and chaos. Discord gets released and even HE’S impressed at the carnage.

Would the amulet do anything on her though? He said “magical charm”, so I assume it only works if they are a magic creature to begin with.

Diamond Tiara as well if she had the chance, BP. Alicorn Tiara?

Gilda must be the final boss of season 3.

She’s a legitimate bully; she physically assaulted Pinkie Pie several times and bullied Flutterhy without provocation. Give a character like that the Alicorn Amulet and you’d have something a lot more nasty than ugly pranks and banishment on your hands; ie. there’d be blood.

Why is gilda at the end?
