just as an obvious for-instance: if the viewer were at the position and angle required to give AJ’s forelegs that appearance, there would be no way in hell the viewer’d be able to see the hills in the background up to the horizon like that

the problem with the picture is that the angle/position of the viewer as indicated by AJ’s forelegs do not coincide with the angle/position of the viewer as indicated by the rest of the picture’s elements

The problem with this is that the perspective only applies itself to the fore/midground. The background is untouched, so it looks like perspective isn’t there and the fore/midground are as they look.
