Lightning™ loves to surprise his friends by suddenly appearing beside them. Of course this makes the Baby Ponies love him because he will always play hide and seek with them.

I guess it could be teleportation or super-speed. One of the other Mountain Boy Ponies got ice powers.

Also, consider Tootsie and her ridiculous lollipop-summoning speech impediment. Regular little earth ponies sometimes got really silly one-off mutant powers in the G1 era, so maybe the other Mountain Boys aren’t admitting.
