There was a Somnambula in G1, yes:
Obviously very different from the one we got in G4, but that’s where the name originated.

And Applejack
And Tirek.
And Somnambula.
And the seaponies.
And the breezies.
Bushwoolies are cute, furry g1 critters that from what I can gather have VERY hairy feet. Two factors these hedgehog-like beasts clearly lack.
That’s true. But these creatures look nothing like the bushwoolies.
Although, the Smooze was radically different between G1 and G4, too.
