In my opinion, it would have to be somepony who’s kind, gentle, has a sense of humor (obviously), and who is generally cool and collected, in order to counter-balance Pinkie’s usual energy. They’d have to be able to be someone Pinkie can calm down and be herself around. Not saying she’s not always her usual, peppy self. But I feel at the end of the day, she’s got to come down and let that ever-present smile she keeps up for her friends fall a bit; instead of focusing on making sure every other pony she knows is happy and able to smile, let herself open up and be able to relax and be cared for at times.

Don’t forget that, underneath her wild & crazy party girl exterior, Pinkie Pie is deeply insecure. We’ve seen what she’s like when she thinks she’s failed to make others smile, and it’s not pretty. If she ever got a crush on somepony, she’d be utterly neurotic about it and end up doing something totally silly like this.
