It might be, she’s not completely crazy and it’s willing to talk more; after all she was also looking for admiration, though in the hypothetical case that she have its rationalization distorted and don’t want to change, potentially, the consequences would be worse.
We don’t know if some ponies would have had the chance to scape or hide, even if there’s no one, in one way or another; I think it would be better to have Sombra in power, unless that Nightmare Moon soon realises about the chaos that she proliferated.
Let’s see, if Nightmare Moon becomes the ruler and we have eternal night, that would mean that we’d have a whole biological chaos; no photosynthesis, no food; no correct sleep cycle, ponies would be irritating and exhausted, and the land would froze over without the warm rays, not to talk that the trophic chain would be absolutely unbalanced due of the mass loss of species.
Even if it might be possible with magic to solve some of these problems, I always liked to think that magic isn’t 100% irrational; they should have a source. You can’t make wings appear for no reason, unless that you “took it” from some other pony or have some unique alicorn magic. If the land is freezing, where will the ponies obtain the heat?
Now, Sombra would only slave you, limit your thoughts, and put you in wars, but with enough power, he would be able to get defeated.
Definitely, I’d go to Sombra’s ruling and remember; have hope.
@mjangelvortex
It’ll take a long time for things to really improve, that’s for certain, but don’t you think ruling Equestria as an unquestioned and immortal demigod get a little boring after a while? Personally, I think after 40-100 years Nightie will start reconsidering her place, while I can never see her giving up absolute power I can see her opening up the way her Empire/Kingdom/whatever it’ll be is run to the public.
@GlitchyShadow
Yeah she seemed a bit more willing to listen to others compared to Sombra. He looked like he was hungry for war and bloodlust. Can’t see how Nightmare Moon’s world could transition into something potentionally better than canon Equestria though. The sun’s super important and even though I’m a night owl myself, I still like the sun.
@ObliviaTheChangeling
AND Nightmare Moon is someone you can reason with, to a degree, I can see a world under her rule eventually transitioning into something far less tyrannical (and potentially better than canon Equestria).
