The painting was recovered at the scene covered in the blood of the painter (as well as the semen of the Amerinds)who was then scalped by the Rival tribe and as such his painting was coated in his blood,over the image he made. After it was recovered the painting was put in storage for centuries until it was decided to restore the paining by carefully cleaning off the dried blood staining the painting and re-colorizing the faded colors.
