Well, he was right. Had it not been for Spike she would have drowned in the first trial.
@QueenCold
Seems to me dragon culture is very much what ponies thought Griffon culture would be: Focussed on not appearing weak at any cost. So they don’t do friendship, but they do do companionship, at least for as long as they are too small to fend for themselves; then they turn into solitary recluses.
Torch is more like Ember than other dragons. He wanted to keep her safe from harm. All this blustering, shouting “You are too weak rah rah!” was an attempt to protect his tiny little daughter from harm and save face at the same time.
Yeah, I knew the take option was going to be mentioned.
You underestimate how much a dragon may love their treasure, or how stubborn he may be. There’s more than likely dragons out there that would trade some gems for pillows, but others may be too greedy or too set in their ways to even try.
Besides, why trade if you can simply take? What’s wrong with that?
I would think a few gems would be worth sleeping on something soft for once.
That is, if dragons value comfort enough to sacrifice any of their treasure.
Still say that ponies should sell pillows to dragons. They would make a killing.
Probably.
Ponies can afford the luxury of being soft and cozy. Ponies wonder what they’ll have for dinner rather than whether or not they’ll have any, and they have pillows.
Edited
Maybe the dragon way of sticking together isn’t quite as soft as the pony way.
Somehow I doubt that.
The whole “dragons don’t do friendship” thing was strange after seeing Garble and the other guys hang out the way they did.
As for family, Torch definitely looks out for Ember. He didn’t allow her to compete because she was weak. The fact that he’s still even in her life says something…
I suppose there’s a few different ways to interpret it, but regardless of how you slice, well, it seems dragons don’t do family either, eh?
