Good question, it seems like that’s one of the more inconsistent things about this universe. Either every unicorn can do something like this and therefore most of them are just LAZY and sadistic towards everyone else, or most of them can’t actually do this so easily and there is actually some kind of effort required.
 
I mean really, if every unicorn could lift something this heavy without breaking a sweat, then it’s actually really rude and cruel to see any instance where an earth pony or Pegasus (or anything else) struggling to carry something where any spectator who happens to be magic could just reach out and teleport things without even thinking about it. I mean what would even be the point of manual labor if one race could do it so easily? Applejack’s entire season of work would be handled in like 10 seconds and instead of showing off, she could pursue a life in like, anything else, and just have more time in general. So really I think this is all just a plothole, or else they may at least try to imply that being a Unicorn doesn’t make life quite /that easy/.

I wonder how powerful the average unicorn’s magic is and if the Sparkle family is unusually powerful, or if picking up other ponies with telekinesis is standard unicorn power.

Shining Armor inherited it too. Night Light’s magic is yellow, like Flurry’s, so maybe it skipped one generation. Cadence, with cyan magic, is the outlier.

Twilight inherited her mom’s magic color.

velvet is definitely where her kids got their magic from.
