That theory is kind of disproven by how old Sunburst is, isn’t it? Word of God from the staff is that she studied magic for years. So, she’s definitely aged normally, but is just really emotionally stunted and immature.

She might not even be a real grown up at all, for all we know she could have used the age spell years ago so she could take over the town earlier.

This is not the bedroom of an adult.

I mean this in a thoughtful, musing sort of way: as someone said on another image, Starlight really is a child who has no idea how to be an adult. It explains so much about her sometimes very strange behavior.

I bet ponies would pay to be transformed into a foal. I would.

Starlight, the answer is so clear: you need to grow up again. Just stay a foal and let Twilight be your mom.
 
Oh, come on! The way Twilight frets over her, I half expect her to just turn Starlight into a little kid anyway.

That is potentially pretty dark.

This scene was both chilling and heartbreaking. Chilling because she attempted to almost literally live the past by turning both herself and Sunburst into foals and heartbreaking because I can understand why she’d want this and how it turned out.

no doubt. I love Starlight and she makes things interesting. I’m just arguing her place in the Mane6. Frankly I don’t see the necessity for it. She can be her own thing. Is the CMC mane6? No, but they make regular appearance and we love those kids. So why push Starlight as the “seventh”? She seems comfortable with her own clique with Spike, Twi, Maud, Trix, and Sunburst, so let her.
 
Also there is no denying that Starlight has changed, but that’s only going from “broken mind prone to violence” to just “broken mind.” and if her broken mind is the cause of her violent outbursts, then that hasn’t solved the root of the problem.

Yes but clearly Starlight doesn’t synergize well with the mane6 because Starlight is late to the game.
 
Half of the issues the mane6 had, has been fixed and now they’re a lot more stable. Realize that recently, the mane6 have been dealing less with internal struggles and more with external ones.
 
Sunset Shimmer has reached that point. She’s stable and deals with the external environment.
 
Starlight on the other hand…most of the stuff she has to deal with, comes from herself. She creates her own problems by easily going into panic mode and takes extreme measures when they’re not needed.
 
She still regularly misjudges and overcompensates due to her own crippling insecurity. Half the problems Starlight has faced, could have been avoided if she only calmed down.
 
Sure Starlight fits with the mane6, but the early Seasons’ mane6.

Well, this kind of thing is a touchy subject that’s dangerously easy to mess up without even realizing it. So the show not diving too much into it is understandable.

I guess she fits in well with the Mane 6 after all. Considering each of the 6 main casts have their own degrees of mental issues of some sorts.

Perhaps, but I highly doubt the show will go too deep into it. Even for adult shows its rare for them to explore psychological problems in a realistic way, I assume mostly because the details of therapy and medication can often be too depressing or boring.
 
Hence Starlight can be classed with the “ambiguous disorder” trope, wherein she reach reasonable stability with nothing more than a strong support system and enough life experience (which are admittedly useful in real life as well).

Doesn’t it appear to people that stuff like this that Starlight does hints the mare having deeper issues that mere friendship and magic lessons couldn’t tackle until she discloses more about herself?
 
For one thing, she’s still quite closed about herself particularly her past.

“Nothing was better than just you and me playing this game together when we were foals” really got to me. Its so poignant.
 
That is, as happy as Starlight is with being redeemed and her new life, she’s also plagued by guilt and the various psychological issues her years of bitterness and obsession created. One can see why she has idealized her past with Sunburst as really being the best time possible, it was after all before she made all those horrible choices and she only had the comparatively simple worries of a child. Course such thinking isn’t healthy either, one could argue she really needed Sunburst to be firm when he snapped at her, though ideally he should have also explained why he was upset right after.

On the other hand, she was mature enough to undo the spell when it was clear Starburst didn’t enjoy it.
 
She could’ve gotten extremely hostile instead.
 
Or just keep them trapped that way as long as she liked.
