A changeling using the mirror pool might be able to create a clone of anypony by changing in to them before using the pool. If the mirror clones are superficial anyway, they might not bother getting much correct past the surface characteristics.
 
Not that I expect anything like that to happen.

If nothing else, we already know that the mirror pool’s cave connects to Maud’s little lost world, presumably by means of those little twisty passages Sunburst and Maud were exploring in this episode. And Maud’s cave, of course, is connected to the tunnel where Rarity goes gem mining. So we’ve already got a little cave system snaking around beneath Ponyville and environs.
 
I’ve been saying a bit of this elsewhere, but you know what would be really neat? If all these caves here also turned out to be connected to the crystal caves under Canterlot or to the warrens of the Diamond Dogs, or both.
 
Heh. Now I’m hoping we’ll get a two-parter or a second movie or something inspired by Journey to the Center of the Earth.

I honestly wouldn’t mind an Equestria full of Sunburst clones…

Not to mention the copies would be flanderized versions of her with less intelligence. Chances are they’d be very destructive.

I think if Starlight used the pool, Equestria would be destroyed in a day.
 
I’m sorry, I love Glimmy, but she’s a colossal screw-up, and I think more than one of her would be too much for Equestria to handle.

I was actually more thinking about her using the mirror pool combined with the strands of manes (+photos) and some magic spell to create an evil mane6 army. Or something in this direction. xD

out of all the villains, chrysalis is the one that flies off the handle the most.
 
this has lead to her being unpredictable and gained her some minor success. however she has never enacted a plan that would succeed in the long term. She beat celestia, but luna was at learge, not to mention the rest of the nation.  
She did manage to capture the most power ful ponise in equestria, but their dopplegangers would not even last a week before exposure. Fuck, sunburst already knew that the royalty had been replaced, and since he wasn’t cocooned up like the rest, he was sitll at large, so the changelings didn’t know he knew.
 
 
IT was slightly more clever though. Rather than being intrusive, they would simple mimic rulers and harvest the love magic. But no one could effectively imitate these personalities effectively.
 
Though her being only power hungry…… Might be more complicated. She might be might makes right, but she showed hesitation and temptation at the end. But her pride would not let her adccept that she was wrong all this time.

You do have a good point. However, now that I think about it, it’s unlikely that Chrysalis would think that far ahead. Villains are often defeated by their own mistakes, and I fail to see how this isn’t a mistake that Chrysalis would make.

That kind of makes it worse considering that all Chrysalis cares about id power so technically the Clones will immediately just start fighting each other

If they were perfect clones, that would make sense, but as we’ve seen, clones created by the mirror pool are less intelligent then the original, and only embody the original’s superficial traits.

Its not illegal to visit it as far as we know (though perhaps frowned upon), most ponies regard the pool as a myth anyway, the rock blocking the main entrance was just to keep the pool from being misused. Plus if its illegal to visit it then Maud is at fault too.
